NEXTGen Detroit

NEXTGen Detroit is the Jewish Federation of Detroit’s vibrant platform for engaging young Jewish adults in their 20s and 30s, helping them connect to one another, to Jewish life, and to the broader mission of Federation through bold leadership, inspired giving, and diverse experiences. Its core mission is to engage the next generation in building and sustaining a strong, dynamic Jewish community—here in Detroit and around the world.

NEXTGen Detroit serves as a powerful entry point for young adults looking to make a meaningful impact. Through a robust calendar of social, cultural, volunteer, and professional development programming, the department creates spaces where Jewish young adults can build relationships, explore their identity, and find their place in community life.

In addition to its programming, NEXTGen Detroit plays a critical role in supporting the Jewish Federation’s Annual Campaign, cultivating a culture of philanthropy among emerging leaders. Through giving societies such as the Ben-Gurion Society (for donors under 40 who contribute $1,000 or more annually) and the Herzl Society (for those giving $365 or more), NEXTGen encourages young adults to invest in the future of the Jewish people and to take ownership of the community’s well-being.

Many of Federation’s current and future leaders get their start in NEXTGen Detroit, where leadership development programs nurture the skills, values, and vision needed to shape the Jewish future. Whether someone is showing up for their first community event or stepping into a major volunteer leadership role, NEXTGen Detroit is where young Jewish Detroiters turn to make their mark.
